We Are West Ham's Will Pugh believes Pablo Fornals could be in the doghouse at West Ham as he was absent from the squad against Manchester City.

Spanish playmaker Pablo Fornals has struggled for game time since David Moyes took the helm at the London Stadium, having started just two out of the last six games since the Scot arrived.

Fornals made a notable contribution in the Hammers’ valiant efforts at Anfield earlier in the week when he swept the visitors into a surprise lead, putting Liverpool’s unbeaten Premier League run this season in jeopardy,

The summer signing from Villareal was also performing well in the latter stages of Manuel Pelligrini’s tenure and his exclusion from a number of games has stirred up speculation that something is not quite right between the himself and the manager in East London.

Will Pugh thinks that his recent absences from the matchday starting lineup could be a sign that the manager is trying to teach the Spaniard a lesson.

"I would imagine there's more to it with him being left off the bench for the City game because you wouldn't would you? It's hardly like our bench is flowing with talent.

"You don't know if there's something going on on the training ground. I haven't heard anything or read anything to suggest that.

“But you know, there are these things sometimes where managers just need to teach a player a lesson don't they because why would you leave him out? He wouldn't be the one you'd leave out really would you?

"We all saw the YouTube videos of Fornals looking good in La Liga didn't we? But when he came over, he hardly set the Premier League on fire did he, and lots of foreigners do that. So I think it's right he got a bit of time.”
