Tottenham were unceremoniously knocked out of the F.A Cup by Norwich on Wednesday evening in their own backyard and Chris Cowlin was left furious.
It was the first time in 28 years that The Canaries’ had progressed to the quarter-finals. Their yellow jubilance did not overshadow the boos and discontent from the Spurs fans. The abuse was so extensive that Eric Dier flew into the stands in order to confront a fan.
Jan Vertonghen scored early on in the first-half with a fine header but Josip Drmic equalised in the second-half not sparing Michel Vorm’s blushes. The match went into extra-time where Tim Krul shone as a penalty pro once more. He saved from Troy Parrot and newly signed Gedson Fernandes to send Norwich through to the next round.
Chris Cowlin of the Tottenham Hotspur Fans Show was interviewed by Love Sport Radio following the game.
"This was Tottenham's best chance of going forward in a cup competition. We already knew that we would have played Manchester United or Derby which would have been a good home draw.”
Mourinho was surprisingly appointed as their Spurs manager in mid-November. His results since have been a mixed bag. A highlight was a victory over Manchester City; a low point was a double loss against his former player Frank Lampard. A recent string of bad results have left fans questioning his tactics.
“He's been in charge just for three and a half months but the way we're setting up at the moment, we're being outplayed at home by a team who's bottom of the Premier League. It's ridiculous. We've been outplayed by many teams.”

"The decision to play Michael Vorm in goal was an absolutely dreadful one. He's not played a single minute of football all last season, and hasn't played a competitive game in 18-months. What a strange, strange, strange decision.”
Vorm spilled a shot from Kenny McLean which led to Norwich’s equaliser. He also was shaky in the first-half after spilling a similarly routine shot.
Spurs haven’t been successful with silverware. They flirted with the Champions League last season, but were underwhelming in the final against Liverpool. They won the League Cup in 2008 although this is a distant memory for many.
"Tottenham haven't won a domestic trophy in 12 years, we haven't won the FA Cup in 29 years. Jose Mourinho was brought in to win Tottenham a trophy and deliver.”
Admittedly, it hasn’t been easy for Mourinho given lengthy injuries to star striker Harry Kane, and the influential attacking Son Heung-Min. In the Norwich game they had no recognised striker, as Dele Alli played up front. The Portuguese is getting no sympathy from the fans as they lament poor performances and a leaky defence.

"I was in the pub when that team come through. Every fan was absolutely disgusted saying 'What on earth are we doing?' We hadn't even kicked a ball and the fans were angry already.”
