Wednesday, March 25th, 2020 3:15pm

Alastair Campbell has criticised Boris Johnson's public announcements as they lack detail which is creating confusion.

COVID-19 has spread worldwide and Europe currently finds itself as the epicenter of it according to the World Health Organisation- Britain to date has had 433 deaths at the current time of writing.

Boris Johnson has been holding a daily briefing in a bid to keep the British public informed with how his Government is currently dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Britain effectively went into lockdown on Monday evening with the Prime Minister urging people to stay at home whilst only a select few shops would remain open in a bid to stop the spread of the virus.

Lord Andrew Adonis, a Labour peer, spoke to Love Sport Radio yesterday and told the station that he cannot criticise Boris Johnson at the moment as the Conservative leader is following the consensus of the experts and implementing their advice.

"My worry about the Boris Johnson briefings, and yes you're right there's loads of briefing on the government website, as you say most people are just getting snatches here and there; Boris Johnson, he doesn't drill down on the detail.

"So you get one day where they're saying to us 'No, no we don't think it's right to close football matches, and we don't think it's right for Cheltenham not to go ahead'. And then a week later, without explaining what the difference is, 'it's absolutely imperative now that we stop people going to this, and people going to that. One day we're not shutting the schools, then we are'.

"Now I get you have to change [policies] but when you make the change, you have to explain in detail, and people will take detail, you have to explain in detail why you're making the change that you are."
