Former-Everton forward Kevin Campbell thinks Dominic Calvert-Lewin is knocking on the door of an England call-up if he can continue this purple patch.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is in the best form of career. With 11 goals notched up so far this campaign, this makes this season his most prolific to date.

Calvert-Lewin's latest strike came in Everton’s 3-1 home win over Crystal Palace on Saturday lunchtime, a win that propelled the Toffees to 7th for the time being, one point away from cracking the top six.

Since the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti, seemingly everyone around Goodison Park has raised their game. Under the Italian’s guidance, they’ve lost just once in the league. Calvert-Lewin is a large contributing factor to their superb form.

Speaking to Love Sport’s Weekend Breakfast show, ex-Everton striker Kevin Campbell revealed he thinks the Englishman's performances deserve to be rewarded with an international cap.

“I think Gareth Southgate could do a lot worse than having a look at Dominic Calvert-Lewin, he’s an in-form striker.

“He’s young, why not have a look at him? You’ve got the opportunity to have a look at some of these players. There isn’t many strikers in better form than Dominic Calvert-Lewin right now.”

The former-Sheffield United man now has six goals in his last ten league outings and will be aiming to continue that rich vein of form as we approach the final few months of the season.

Calvert-Lewin is perhaps one of the few Premier League players rueing the week off this new winter break provides, as he’ll be desperate to get as many minutes as possible whilst he is in this kind of mood in front of goal.

Whether Southgate will follow Campbell’s wishes remains to be seen, but whilst Everton’s current number 9 continues to find the net in the build up to this summers Euro’s, the England boss may find him difficult to ignore.
