Barcelona revealed yesterday that French winger Ousmane Dembele will be out for the rest of the season and will miss France's Euro campaign
Ousmane Dembele has not had the easiest of times following his move to Barcelona in August 2017.
The 22-year-old caught the eye of many of the world's best with his six goals and 13 assists in 32 Bundesliga games as a youngster. His form saw Barcelona swoop in for him but injuries have seriously hindered his career with the Spanish giants.
Dembele has only managed 492 minutes of football this season, completing just two games of 90-minutes.
Barcelona announced the devastating news yesterday on their website: "The first team player Ousmane Dembéle has successfully undergone surgery in Turku, Finland where he was operated on by Dr. Lasse Lempainen for a ruptured tendon in his proximal hamstring in his right thigh. The Frenchman will be out for around 6 months.
The striker was continuing his recovery from the hamstring injury when he was forced to retire from a training session at the Ciutat Esportiva last week. Subsequent tests confirmed a complete rupture to the tendon in the proximal hamstring of his right leg.

The news was such a blow for a player who can't seem to stay injury-free with the Catalonian club, even rival fans took to social media to express their sadness at his wretched luck.
It’s so unfortunate to see Ousmane Dembele’s injury history since joining Barcelona almost three years ago and to see such a talent on the sidelines more than on the pitch makes it even more sad to see.— Roberto Rojas (@RobertoRojas97) February 11, 2020

As just a fan of the game & a fan of ballers, it pains me to see Ousmane Dembélé is injured yet again.— Alex Goldberg (@AlexGoldberg_) February 6, 2020
The way he dribbles & uses both feet so flawlessly, he’s really a special, special talent. But sadly a talent we already might have to accept won’t reach his potential.
Ousmane Dembele out for another 6 months??— Mod (@CFCMod_) February 11, 2020
Nah man, he's actually suffered so much. Injuries are so unfortunate and this is such a mental battle too as he'll be out for Euros...
Barca, currently sat second in La Liga under new manager Quique Setién, already have star striker Luis Suarez out with a knee injury so Dembele's absence will place even more pressure on Lionel Messi, Antonie Griezmann and emerging talent Ansu Fati.
