Social media reacts to Cristiano Ronaldo breaking ANOTHER record

Cristiano Ronaldo's conversion from the penalty spot put him in the Juventus record books along with legendary French striker David Trezeguet

They might be in different leagues but the rivalry continues between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Messi, in Barcelona's home win over Levante, produced a wonderful assist for Ansu Fati's goal but Ronaldo wasn't to be undone, producing the magic in Italy himself.

Juventus' record of goals scored in consecutive games lied with David Trezeguet - goals in nine straight league games in 2005 hadn't been matched until this weekend by the Portugese forward.

Users couldn't believe that Ronaldo is still breaking such records at his age, with the forward turning 35 in a matter of days!

Squakwa joked that Ronaldo should change his shirt number considering his love for records to do with the number 9.

The Serie A record for goals in consecutive games stands at 11. Gabriel Batistuta holds the record for his 11-game scoring run at the start of the 1994/95 campaign. The ex-Fiorentina man's record is now under threat with Juventus' next couple of fixtures being kind to them.

An away fixture against Hellas Verona, who are ninth in the league and currently on a good run of form, is followed by a Brescia at home and then SPAL away. Brescia and SPAL occupy the bottom two places in the table.

Therefore with Ronaldo eyeing up a Serie A record, having just equalled a Juventus one, he will be hoping to score against Verona. Brescia and SPAL to make it a record breaking 12-game scoring run.
