The Palace legend can already see the dollar signs
Crystal Palace have been lively this season, but what they've really missed is a focal point up front. The lack of a lethal striker has left them lacking firepower, and relying heavily on talisman Wilfred Zaha.
The Ivorian is central to Roy Hodgson's team - but they could still sell him in January! Speaking to Love Sport Radio, Crystal Palace legend John Salako said the money Zaha would raise could be too good to turn down.
“But if you did have that striker, if you could get money for Wilf, as much as Giroud would be an answer, if you can go and get a couple of strikers who will put competition into that squad and start scoring, you’re looking at a squad who'll finish in the top half comfortably".
Salako said that the opportunity to buy a striker of Giroud's quality could redefine Palace's season.
“When I look at what Ings is doing, others like Callum Wilson, Josh King, the likes of Wood and Barnes at Burnley, it just makes such a big difference when you’ve got strikers who are going to put balls in the back of the net".
“But the lads have been incredible without it [a goalscorer]. Milivojević with his pens and free-kicks, Van Aanholt has been sensational from left-back. I think he’s the highest scoring left-back in Europe. We spread the goals around".
