The uncapped star is being thrown in at the deep end.

Uncapped rugby star Ruaridh McConnochie can be the difference for England at the World Cup, according to ex-prop Victor Ubogu.

The former England and Bath supremo thinks McConnochie, who has only represented his country in Rugby Sevens so far, could be a key component in England's World Cup charge under Eddie Jones this year.

Ubogu told Love Sport Breakfast: "He did exceptionally well in the Sevens and won silver at the Olympics.

"He’s got that je ne se quoit and can create something out of nothing which is why he’s in the team.

"What are England’s chances."

When asked if England can actually win the World Cup, which begins on September 20th, Ubogu said: "It’s good to have a dream!

"Eddie has shown that he’s capable of winning world cups in the past.

"Looking at that squad on paper there are people who are capable of wining at the very top level.

"I think England are in a very good place."

England's tournament gets underway against Tonga on September 22nd.
