Darius Vassell says Rashford can go all the way - if he plays on the wing!
Marcus Rashford has looked out of sorts so far this season. The young forward was tipped for big things at Manchester United after the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, but he has really struggled for form in front of goal.
Some Manchester United fans are now suggesting he isn't good enough to play for the club, with others claiming he isn't capable of leading the line at all.
But Rashford is still only 21 years old, with plenty of time to improve. Speaking to Love Sport Radio, former England striker Darius Vassell said he has every confidence in the United Man's quality, regardless of that dip in form.
"Rashford is a top class player, of course. He's just going through a little run of indifferent form, but that won't last forever. And the longer it goes on for, the more he'll learn".
"Going away from his club side from the England team could be really good for him, too - it's the perfect platform to perform with the best players in the league, and get his confidence back".
The big question when it comes to Rashford is where he should play. Is he most effective when employed as a winger, or when he's driving through the middle?
Vassell, who himself was employed as both a striker and winger throughout his career, said he doesn't see Rashford as a conventional number nine.
"His best position is either side of the main striker, for me. I know he can play as a striker, but he needs that freedom to be able to run those channels and cause havoc on either wing, and choose when he's going to do that".
And Vassell was in no doubt as to who the main man is for England.
"Harry Kane has to be the focal point, through the middle on his own. He's just too good!"
