Former United full-back Clayton Blackmore has voiced his frustrations with some members of the United squad.
United secured a win at The Etihad for the second time of this season, but it wasn’t enough to see them progress to the Carabao Cup final.
Man City carried a two goal cushion going into the tie after winning 3-1 at Old Trafford in the first leg. United knew it would be a mountain to climb, but were handed an early boost when Nemanja Matić scored mid-way through the first half.
However, Solskjaer’s men couldn’t capitalise on their lead and the game actually fizzled out with the home-side on top.
Pep’s side couldn’t find the net, even with all their late dominance and the game finished with an impressive, if redundant, 1-0 away win for the red half of Manchester.
However, some were not as pleased with United’s valiant effort in defeat. Speaking to Love Sport Breakfast, former Red Devil’s full back Clayton Blackmore did not hold back on his former side.
“I’m not sure, I watched the game last night and was getting really annoyed with some of our players. We were 1-0 up, players were losing the ball and not working as hard as they should be. There is no excuse for not working hard, you don’t need skill.”
“It’s a better performance from us but again it was men against boys and on another day it could have been a different score.”
“To be fair to Ole, that’s the most angry I’ve seen him losing his temper on the touch line. There’s no excuse for the players to not work.”
