The Derby della Madonnina lived up to expectation on Sunday as city rivals Inter and AC did battle at what could be the last ever Milan derby at the icon San Siro.

If this is to be the San Siro's last time hosting the Derby della Madonnina, it was a fitting way to bow out for the world-renowned ground.

Three points behind league leaders Juventus, who had surprising lost away to Hellas Verona, Antonio Conte's Inter had the chance to leapfrog their rivals into top spot if they won their game in hand.

Playing host to city rivals AC Milan, Inter managed to comeback from two goals down to win 4-2 as Conte saw his side topple Juventus off their perch.

Late first-half goals from Ante Rebic and the mercurial Zlatan Ibrahimovic had stunned the Azzurri into silence. It seemed Stefano Pioli was going to mastermind a shock result which would keep the Old Ladies in pole position.

However the half-time team talk from Conte seemed to have worked a treat as his men scored four second-half goals to win in dramatic fashion. Strikes from Marcelo Brozovic, Matias Vecino, Stefan de Vrij and a stoppage-time misery compiler by Romelu Lukaku wrapped up the three points.

Lukaku, who netted his 17th of the league season in just 23 games, had fans raving about the Belgian who departed Manchester United for £75 million during the summer.

Another ex-United player Ashley Young, who linked up with his former teammate in Italy after joining in January, also seems to be enjoying his time at his new club.

The result was not just important for Inter's chances of winning a first scudetto since 2009/2010, it was also the first time the club have beaten AC Milan in four consecutive Serie A games since 1983.

You could see what the victory meant to both staff and fans at the full-time whistle.

Recent arrival from Tottenham, Christian Eriksen, nearly scored a peach of a free-kick from around 35-yards out. It seems the Danish playmaker is also settling into his new surroundings quite comfortably.

Juventus may have lost away to Hellas Verona but Cristiano Ronaldo is doing his best to keep Juventus in with a hope of winning the title. Ronaldo netted his 10th successive league game setting a club record!
