Ex-Liverpool goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has called on the club to reinforce their attacking options and sign players that can do a job when the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino aren't firing.
A relatively unknown prospect from Hoffenheim, a Chelsea flop and Southampton winger somehow formed one of the most feared attacking outfits in world football when they joined forces for Liverpool. Yet that hasn't stopped the club being linked with other options up front.
Some of the biggest names around have been subject to reports linking them with a move to Merseyside, from Timo Werner to Kylian Mbappé.
For all of the current crop's attacking prowess, Roberto Firmino has just one goal on home soil so far this campaign, and off the back of last night's elimination from the Champions League the discussion has already begun as to potential summer recruits.
Speaking to Love Sport Breakfast, former Liverpool 'keeper Chris Kirkland has revealed he thinks it's essential that manager Jürgen Klopp is active when the window opens.
"Yes, definitely. I think I'll be surprised if they don't you know; the attacking department, the front three are incredible. When one of them's not performing and the other two do but when you're going to go through spells where them front three are not performing and you're going to need replacements.

"I'd be amazed if they don't go out and buy somebody else in the summer. It's difficult to say because when you know win the Premier League by 20 plus points, people say, well, you're mad. Winning the Champions League last year as well but you can't stand still in football, you know that and I'm sure we'll be making signings so it will be interesting what we're doing this summer."
