John Moncur has praised West Ham United youngster Jeremy Ngakia after the teenager has impressed hugely in all 4 of his premier league appearances so far in 2020.

Jeremy Ngakia has become a fan favourite since his Premier League debut in January 2020, particularly after a mature display in the club’s clash against Liverpool. The Hammers narrowly missed out on victory over the previously unbeaten Red’s side in February with a shock 3-2 result.  Ngakia was credited for this performance, defending with maturity and bringing the ball forward with a mixture of composure and menace.

The 19-year-old has progressed through the West Ham Academy ranks and has now made 3 premier league appearances for the club. John Moncur told the fan show his prediction that the youngster will go from strength to strength.

"There is a rawness about him obviously but he's got a lot of natural talent if you look at you know, he eats the ground up, he looks good at times going forward. He reminds me a little bit of Wan-Bissaka a little bit, he's leggy and he's a good defender.

"If he was a winger, because he's rangy and he's got that, that sort of rawness and that sort of length in his limbs really, he's hard to get past.

Commenting on Ngakia’s importance as a signing, Moncur stated:

"So I think he's been a real bonus. And so when someone comes in like that it gives the whole squad a lift because you think, blimey, we've got a signing here for nothing. And, you know, that's what makes the difference.

"When you look back because you say I was there when they all come through. And it's a little bit like Glen Johnson; Glen Johnson come in. I mean, we sold him after 12 games. But in them 12 games he proved that he had a Premiership career. You know from the third or fourth game that he come in, he's going to be a star, you know, an asset to the club and I can see this with this boy.

"I'm really impressed with him."
