Former Saints full-back Jason Dodd is excited about the prospect of seeing Kyle Walker-Peters in action.
Walker-Peters has joined the side on loan from Tottenham and is in line to make his debut in Southampton’s upcoming fixture against Burnley next Saturday lunchtime.
The 22-year-old has been at Tottenham since 2015, yet has been restricted into making only 12 first team appearances for the side.
With Southampton letting Cedric Soares leave the club to join Arsenal on loan, the acquisition of Walker-Peters makes sense. However limited his game time may have been, he has experience at the highest level, featuring in Spurs 1-1 Champions League group stage draw with Barcelona at the Camp Nou in December 2018.

Someone who has extremely high hopes for Walker-Peters is Ex-Saints fullback Jason Dodd. Speaking to the Southampton fan show on Love Sport Radio, Dodd revealed what he thinks of the right-back.
“Oh my god, he is, in theory, what you said is a modern day fullback. He’s like a Trent Alexander Arnold, he’s great going forward.”
“One v one’s there is not many people going to get by him. You’re looking at a swap with Cedric going out, and we are getting a young hungry lad that wants to come down and play in the Premier League.”
Dodd thinks Walker-Peters deserves credit for actively searching for playing time, rather than collecting his wages and sitting on the bench at Tottenham.
“He knows his game time would have been limited where he was, he wants to play. That’s what is pleasing for me. The sooner we can get him out on the pitch, we can see what attributes what he’s going to bring to us.”
I think he’s great, I think he’s got so much in his locker, if we keep finding key areas in our squad that we can add, I think collectively we will carry on the great form we are doing.”
