Former Fulham skipper Lee Clark has claimed the job in the Craven Cottage dugout is fantastic, though comes with intense pressure.
The Cottagers currently sit 4th in the Championship, residing in the play-off places four points adrift from the automatic promotion spots.
Scott Parker is a popular man in the black and white half of West London, having taken over as manager on a permanent basis in May of last year.
Fulham have lost just one of their last five in the league, though were most recently on the wrong end of a 4-0 humbling at the Etihad in the FA Cup fourth round.
Speaking to The Fulham Fan show on Love Sport Radio, former Cottager Lee Clark is delighted at the job Parker is doing at the helm.
“I’ve been very impressed, he got to know the group just as they were going down from the Premier League and he’s built his own squad and they have quietly got on with their job. They’ve had a few little bumps in the road but they are a looking a strong team especially at Craven Cottage.”
When asked as to what it would mean for Parker’s future if Fulham were to fall short of their promotion ambitions, Clark was coy; “Well that’s the big question, it’s a fantastic job to have, it’s a great job for Scott to have as his first job. It comes with intense scrutiny and pressure, but that’s what happens when you are working for a club that backs you with funds to strengthen the squad and the structure and the facilities.”
“It depends what the remit was from the owner and the directors, was it to to build the club up after the disappointing season in the Premier League and start getting some value on the pitch from the players we have, the younger types of player that we can sell on? Or was the remit we want to get up straight away? That’s the million dollar question.”
Ultimately, the former Fulham midfielder was optimistic over what the future holds for his old side.
“Without a doubt we are a Premier League club, as a club it deserves to be there, the supporters deserve to be there. Especially with the renovations of Craven Cottage now, the Riverside stand which has a fantastic new look to it, hopefully they can get back up this year.”
