Roy ‘chopper’ Harris believes the supporters will give Frank Lampard time as Chelsea boss because of his commitment to younger players.
Chelsea’s crop of promising youngsters have earned plenty of praise this season and deservedly so.
Frank Lampard’s side sit in fourth on 41 points and are on course to secure Champions League football for next season in spite of their transfer embargo.
The Blues’ highest ever goalscorer was appointed as Maurizio Sarri’s replacement last summer with a remit of promoting the club’s starlets, a decision that has paid dividends to date.

Stamford Bridge has hosted some scintillating football this campaign with the likes of Tammy Abraham and Callum Hudson-Odoi in fine form with the former contributing 13 goals in the Premier League so far.
But 1 win from 5 in the Premier League threatens to halt the London club’s bid to play amongst Europe’s elite next season.
However, former Chelsea defender and club legend Roy Harris believes Lampard is the right man to take the club forward and commends his decision to back the clubs’ youth.
Speaking to Martin Bell on Love Sport Radio, Harris suggested there is a limit to how much the club can achieve this season but insisted that Lampard is still doing well in his role.
“Well I can’t see him finishing any higher than fourth.
“I think Frank’s doing a good job, and I think what he has done is bring in some younger players and in my time a lot of players used to come through the ranks like that.”
The Chelsea board - and Roman Abramovich in particular - have been known to have a quick trigger finger when it comes to managers with 10 different head coaches walking through the door at the Bridge over the last decade.
Over that time there have been many fallouts between the manager and board and with high expectations for the club to perform, Lampard will have to be on top form throughout his tenure to keep hold of the job.
However, Harris believes that both the board and the fans will give Lampard time in the role as he attempts to take the club away from the habits of the last 10 years.
“I think sometimes people or supporters don’t give the manager a lot of time, I think they will do this time with Frank because he’s going along the right way.”
