Gareth Bale is not exactly the most popular man in Madrid at the moment, both with the fans and the staff.
Not selected for Real Madrid’s Thursday night Copa Del Rey clash at home to Real Sociedad, Gareth Bale didn’t even stay for the full 90 minutes as his side crashed out at the quarter final stage.
Losing 4-3, with their own player Martin Ødergaard coming back to haunt them. The Sociedad loanee scored the first of the away sides four goals.
Even though this was the first time Los Blancos tasted defeat in 22 matches, Madrid fans were not particularly forgiving of their sides performance.
I don't think Real Madrid will win any other trophies this season if they start Nacho, Marcelo together without starting Varane or Casemiro in Crucial matches. Varane, Casemiro were really the key to our defensive stability in last 3 months.— ُ (@BlancoAbhi) February 7, 2020
Not to forget Mendy, we missed him
Whilst there were seven goals and one red card, the thing that has Real fans seething and opposition fans laughing is Gareth Bale’s hasty exit.
The Welshman and former most expensive footballer in the world opted to try and beat the busy Madrid traffic by getting a head start. Bale was pictured by numerous fans in his car home-bound whilst the game was still going on.

After a successful start to life at the Santiago Bernabéu, Bale’s reputation amongst Madrid fans has dwindled to the point where many want him sold in the summer.
Bale, on the other hand, seems perfectly content where he is regardless of lack of playing time. He did not help himself after he was picture alongside his national teammates holding a banner which read ‘Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order’
