Italian defender and Juventus icon Giorgio Chiellini made his first appearance for The Old Lady since the opening day of the Serie A season on Sunday evening.

The Juventus legend came on as a substitute during his side’s 2-0 win over Brescia, his first minutes of competitive action since August.

The 35-year-old’s return was greeted with nothing but cheers and applause by adoring fans inside the ground. It is a credit to the defensive stalwart that he is able to recover from such an injury!

The centre-back tore his anterior cruciate ligament; an injury that has ended the careers of players years younger than him.

It wasn’t just the fans that seemed please to see Chiellini return, his team-mates also took to twitter to express their joy at his cameo appearance.

According to manager Maurizio Sarri’s post match comments, Chiellini almost took it upon himself to make the substitution.

The Juventus skipper is rumoured to be rewarded for his injury rehabilitation efforts with a new contract, meaning the Italian would make it 16-years in Turin.

The 2-0 win sees Juve stay a point clear of the rest of the league in top spot, as Paulo Dybala stepped up to score the game's opening goal in the absence of main man Cristiano Ronaldo.

Juan Cuadrado notched the second ten minutes before the end to seal the three points for Sarri’s men.
