Darron Gibson, a Premier League winner with Manchester United, has signed a short-term deal with League Two outfit Salford City FC.
Ex-Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson has joined Salford City on a short-term deal, and people are shocked!
Having recently been plying his trade with Wigan Athletic - the Irishman was released by the Latics in the summer of 2019 - the 32-year-old has signed a deal with Salford until the end of the season.
The Ammies have had Gibson training with them for a while as the former Premier League winner looked to build up his fitness. Manager graham Alexander has taken the punt and will be hoping his vast top-flight experience will help with the club's playoff push.
Speaking to Salford City once he signed, Gibson explained he was looking forward to the challenge: "I'm looking forward to it. It's a new challenge. I like where the club is heading - trying to push for promotion. I'm looking forward to getting involved and signing.
"It's a new challenge. Obviously a challenge for the club and a challenge for me personally. I've not played in a while but i'm looking forward to getting back in the swing of things."
Some fans couldn't believe the League Two side had managed to secure a player of Gibson's calibre whilst Manchester United fans wished their former player good luck in his new challenge.
