Chelsea legend Clive Walker believes the club will watch over Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies as a potential future signing.

The Bundesliga giants all but sealed their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League last night with a comprehensive 3-0 victory in London last night over the Blues.

The 19-year-old Canadian featured prominently in the win, stepping up with an assist for Robert Lewandowski’s all important third goal that seemingly put the tie to bed.

Davies has taken massive strides since joining the Bavarian outfit with 26 appearances so far in this breakthrough season for the teenager.

Speaking to Richard Lee and Martin Allen on Love Sport Breakfast, Chelsea great Clive Walker suggested Davies’ good performance against the Blues last night would’ve caught the eye of the London club who could look to acquire the services of the left-back in the future.

However, he added that the club would need to secure Champions League football to have any chance of signing the Candian.

"The one thing that Chelsea are always in the market for is one of the best younger players around and I think having seen him in the flesh, you have to say that Chelsea's ears would have been pricked.

"I'm sure they'll be watching him on a few more occasions. But does he leave a club like Bayern to come to Chelsea? And of course Champions League is a big part of any draw [to the club] at the moment and Chelsea have to hang on to fourth spot.”

Walker went on to say that Davies’ blistering pace makes him one to keep a close eye on for the future.

"I thought he was almost as quick as I was Martin! This lad is quick.

"I think he's got a lot to learn but I think wow, you know with that pace you can get away with things and you know I thought he was absolutely terrific. And you know one to look forward to for the future even if it might be from a distance. He's at a good club and you can see him improving.”
