Aston Villa set up a second Wembley appearance within less than a year as Dean Smith's men battled past Leicester 2-1 last night, progressing to the Carabao Cup Final after winning the semis 3-2 on aggregate.
A last minute winner from summer signing Trezeguet sent Villa Park into delirium with the tie set for extra-time.
Smith, in his first full season at the club, has fond memories of Wembley having taken Villa up through the play-offs after beating Derby County, managed then by Frank Lampard.
The excitement carried over post-match with several first-team players expressing their delight at their achievement of reaching a domestic cup final.
Trezeguet, who came off the bench and scored a 93rd minute, was ecstatic with the victory.

Kortney Hause signed for the Midlands club from rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers initially on loan in January 2019 but after impressive displays moved permanently in the summer. Another wembley appearance beckons for the 24-year-old.
