Joe Bryan injury "could be a blessing in disguise" claims Fulham podcaster

Part of the Fulhamish podcast and co-host of the Fulham Fans Show, Dom Betts took to the airwaves to give his thoughts about the injury to left-back Joe Bryan.

Fulham are battling for promotion to the Premier League and at both ends of the pitch their team are pulling their proverbial weight. With the joint-fourth meanest defense alongside table-toppers West Brom and the sixth best attack in the division, Scott Parker seems to have found a balance to his team.

One player though who might not be featuing in that sturdy back line is Joe Bryan.

With 35 league appearances to his name this campaign, Bryan has been a stable of this Fulham team under Parker but his injury might not be the end of the world according to one Fulham fan.

Speaking on the Fulham Fans Show, Dom Betts believes that the Englishman potentially not being fit for selection could be a good thing for the Cottagers.

"Yes, Cyrus Christie came on and played really, really well. And I've said it before and I'll say it again, Joe Byran, as much as he has this connection with Mitrović- getting I think six or seven assists maybe- defensively he's all over the place at times."

And it is those defensive worries with Bryan that led Betts to suggest that the team will benefit without the former Bristol City man in their back-four.

"I think this injury could be a blessing in disguise because I think it will make our defence more balanced. I think it was a hamstring injury so you know, with Joe Bryan out I'd play Denis Odoi on the left hand side who I think has arguably been maybe not our best defender, because also we've had Michael Hector, but probably our most consistent defender this season.

"And you have Cyrus Christie on the right-hand side; I geuninely think it could be a blessing in disguise. Yes, he has this good connection with Mitrović and Bobby Reid but I actually think it will make us more balanced."
