Fulham vs Swansea Championship preview

After failing to win any of their last three matches Fulham will be looking to regain lost ground on the top two against a Swansea side themselves looking to edge closer to the play-off places.

Scott Parker’s Fulham sit fourth in the Championship table on 57 points, 2 points behind Nottingham Forest in third and five points behind Leeds in second.

But the Cottagers’ recent form has resulted in them squandering the opportunity to move above Leeds to claim an automatic promotion place for themselves.

This bad patch is compounded by the fact they face five teams in the top seven in the next eight games which will ultimately determine their fate come the end of the season.

The Craven Cottage outfit couldn’t have chosen a worse time then to hit a bad run in front of goal as Aleksander Mitrovic is the only one as of late who has managed to get on the scoresheet, and will be under pressure to do so again if they are to walk away with three points tonight.

Parker needs to secure the Lilywhites’ first league double over Swansea since 1996-97 if they are to re-energise their promotion push.

Meanwhile, Swansea were enduring their own winless streak until this past Saturday where they beat Huddersfield 3-1 to put to an end a five-match winless run.

While they now sit in ninth spot, Steve Cooper's team are far from the outfit which impressed during the opening months of the campaign.

Just one clean sheet has been kept in seven matches - against out-of-form Queens Park Rangers - with a total of 12 goals being shipped during that period.

However the return of youngster Ben Cabango made a considerable difference at the weekend as the 19-year-old rekindled his partnership with Joe Rodon at the back.

From an attacking perspective, Cooper would have been delighted to see Andre Ayew get back on the scoresheet in the same game, bringing an end to a five-match goalless drought.

The Swans will need a win in London to keep up with the other promotion hopefuls.

Team news

Fulham

Fulham boss Scott Parker has no new injury concerns but could make changes to his side as they host Swansea.

Aboubakar Kamara impressed as a substitute against the Rams and is pushing for a start, while Bobby Reid was preferred to Ivan Cavaleiro and it remains to be seen who gets the nod to play alongside Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Alfie Mawson (unspecified), Maxime Le Marchand (back) and Harrison Reed (calf) are all expected to miss out for the Cottagers once again.

Swansea boss Cooper is likely to keep changes to a minimum, but Jordan Garrick is pushing for a role in the first XI.

Nathan Dyer faces a late fitness test as he looks to return to the Swansea starting line-up following his recent injury.

But boss Steve Cooper is still without Wayne Routledge, who has suffered a knee injury which is likely to keep him out for another week.

Aldo Kalulu is available despite the Frenchman being forced off midway through the weekend win over Huddersfield.
